Smail 500 Food Drive Week 2 Check-In: Who’s Leading the Race So Far?

The excitement is building at this year’s Smail 500 Food Drive! Joe Suto, Brian Keegan, and the Auto Group team took us behind the scenes for their mid-race check-in, and the spirit of friendly competition—and community giving—has never been stronger. Here’s the rundown on who’s climbing the leaderboard, standout moments, and what’s fueling these impressive contributions.

Ford Surges Ahead

Leading the pack is Smail Ford, holding the top spot with an incredible 955 items donated. Nick Hotchkiss credited this success to the generosity of walk-in customers, employee teamwork, and a push for both food and monetary donations. It’s a fantastic effort that sets the bar high for everyone else!

Kia & Pre Owned Two: Not Far Behind

Smail Kia isn’t letting up, landing in second with 846 items. Izzy Peagler and the team celebrated unprecedented participation from co-workers, and gave a special shoutout to their receptionist, Brittany, whose organizing skills played a key role in their display (and motivation!).

Pre Owned Two took third place with 697 items—a huge feat considering there are only seven staff members, averaging an amazing 100 items per person! As Sam put it, their small but mighty team is highly competitive and committed to making a difference.

Other Notable Showings

• GMC/Cadillac has accumulated an impressive 499 items, with Michael aknowledging both employee and community involvement.
• The Collision Center, led by Corinne, tallied 212 items and emphasized their deep-rooted tradition of preparing early and giving back.
• Smail Mazda (287 items) and Honda (286 items) are in an incredibly close battle, separated by just a single item! Braden mentioned extra support from local organizations, while Justin Thompson called for more community involvement in the final stretch.

The Race Isn’t Over Yet!

With donations being accepted until December 4th, Joe Suto and Brian Keegan reminded everyone it’s still “anyone’s race.” And, in true Smail 500 tradition, anyone who donates could win a free car detail valued at $250—making it even more rewarding to contribute.
