Smail 500 Competition: Acura Clinches Victory with Massive Peanut Butter Collection
The finale of the 2024 Smail 500 at Smail Auto Group has concluded with an incredible turnout and lots of excitement, all for a great cause—a food drive to benefit the Westmoreland Food Bank. Hosted by Brian Keegan, Anderson, and Taylor Smail, this week’s episode was all about peanut butter, and it turned into one of the most thrilling finishes in the history of the competition.
A Tight Race to the End
This year, the competition was fiercer than ever, with each department within the Smail Auto Group vying for the coveted Smail 500 trophy by collecting as much peanut butter as possible. The final scoreboard showed that Acura clinched victory by a razor-thin margin of just 126 points. To break it down, that’s only a 63-item difference between the red and blue teams, making this the closest contest to date.
Acura’s Outstanding Effort
Acura, represented by Cam and his team, made an outstanding contribution with an impressive 668 points of peanut butter in the final week alone. The Acura team’s success was significantly boosted thanks to a monumental donation from Mr. Philibaum, who generously paid for nearly $400 worth of peanut butter, and additional efforts from team members cleaning stores out of their supplies.
Cam gave a huge shout-out to those who made this victory possible, including Anthony and Nate. “Thank you, Mr. Philibaum, for the donation that you got with us yesterday. Ultimately, I think that’s what got us this,” said Cam triumphantly as he accepted the trophy.
Collaboration Across Departments
The spirit of the Smail 500 transcended mere competition. Each department brought their A-game, ensuring that the real winners—families in need—received as much support as possible. The Smail Pre-Owned Center 2 led in overall donations with 186 points, but it was the unified effort across Smail Auto Group that made this food drive so impactful.
Participants from Smail Honda, Smail Forward, Smail Kia, and other departments expressed their gratitude for being part of such a community-driven initiative. As Maya from Smail Forward put it, “Especially with Thanksgiving around the corner, we feel proud and thankful to be part of the Smail Auto Group.”
Strong Community Ties
The Smail 500 is about more than just winning a trophy; it’s about fostering a spirit of giving and strengthening community bonds. Everyone involved showcased a wholehearted commitment to making a difference, ensuring that numerous families in the Westmoreland area would have much-needed food supplies for the holidays.
This year’s Smail 500 leaves us all looking forward to next year, with the blue team already setting their sights on retaining the trophy. Until then, kudos to all participants and an enormous thank you to everyone who donated—together, we’ve achieved something truly wonderful.
Stay tuned for more exciting events and updates from Smail Auto Group. See you at next year’s Smail 500!
