Kelley Blue Books Best Family Cars for Under $25,000
Kelley Blue Book has created a list of the Best Cars for Families Under $25,000 featuring new Mazda, Kia, and Honda models!
Kelley Blue Book created this list for families on a budget or families who are looking for something smaller than a full sized SUV. These options still offer plenty of cargo space, passenger space, value, and safety and all of them have MSRPs under $25,000!
The Mazda CX-30 subcompact SUV offers 20.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and a maximum of 45.2 cubic feet behind the first row of seating. The CX-30 was also rated a TOP SAFETY PICK+, the highest possible safety award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Standard features such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane-Keeping Assist helped make that possible.
Another great choice that Kelley Blue Book editors mentioned is the Mazda3 hatchback, both the Mazda3 and the CX-5 have similar cargo volume, and both are TOP SAFETY PICK+ models. The CX-20 adds some rige height and ground clearance while the Mazda3 adds more handling and a slightly higher fuel economy rating.
The Honda HR-V is a small crossover SUV with a well-built cabin that offers 24.3 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and a total of 58.8 cubic feet behind the front seats. Honda’s rear Magic Seat can be folded in a number of ways to accommodate longer or taller items.
Advanced driver assistance and safety features are standard on all HR-V models, excluding the base model, including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist System.
The Kia Soul is a small hatchback that offers a great amount of cargo space for an affordable price. The Soul was recently redesigned and now offers 24,3 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 62.1 cubic feet of space with the back rows folded down.
The 5-passenger hatch was awarded a Top Safety Pick Award from IIHS and comes with forward-collision mitigation and blind-spot monitoring with more safety features becoming available on higher trim levels. The Soul also has an excellent 5-Year Cost to Own number.
The Kia Seltos is all new this year and was named Kelley Blue Book’s Subcompact SUV for 2021. The Seltos stands out thanks to its class-leading cargo room, latest technology, adventurous attitude, and Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.
The S trim comes standard with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. The inside of the Seltos offer 26.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a maximum of 62.8 cubic feet behind the front row.
Honda Civic Hatchback
The Honda Civic Hatchback is at the top of Kelley Blue Book’s list! The 5-door, 5-passenger hatchback gives you 26 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and over 46 cubic feet of space with the second row folded down.
The Civic has fuel economy as high as 40 miles per gallon and the range is more than 420 miles on a single tank of gas. The Honda Sensing suite of safety features comes standard on all trim levels and includes forward collision mitigation, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, road departure mitigation, and automatic high beams.
